Dell PowerEdge R740 power cord
The cord depends on which PSU is installed. Check the wattage on the PSU label.
| PSU | Inlet | Cord | Note |
|---|---|---|---|
| 495 W, 750 W, 1100 W | C14 | C13–C14 to a PDU C13 outlet | 1100 W gives 1050 W on 100–120 V |
| 1600 W | C14 | C13–C14 | Only 800 W on 100–120 V |
| 2000 W | C20 | C19–C20 to a PDU C19 outlet | Dell kit note: C19/C20 cord required; 1000 W on 100–120 V |
| 2400 W | C20 | C19–C20 | 200–240 V only |
The same applies to the R740xd. Both PSUs in one server must be the same wattage.
Which PDU outlets
With 495–1600 W PSUs, any C13 outlet works, and a standard Dell C13–C14 PDU-style jumper (for example 450-ABLE, 0.6 m, 10 A) fits. With 2000 or 2400 W PSUs you need C19 outlets, and most PDUs only have a few. Plan them before ordering.
