Dell PowerEdge R640 power cord
Common R640 AC PSUs have a C14 inlet. The cord is a C13–C14 jumper: C13 into the server, C14 into a C13 outlet on the PDU.
| PSU | Inlet | On 100–120 V |
|---|---|---|
| 495 W | C14 | Full rating |
| 750 W | C14 | Full rating |
| 1100 W | C14 | Derated to 1050 W |
| 1600 W | C14 | Derated to 800 W |
Dell's R640 technical guide notes that PSUs rated 1600 W and higher need 200–240 V to deliver their full capacity. On a 120 V homelab circuit, a 1600 W PSU behaves like an 800 W one.
Which cord to buy
A C13–C14 PDU-style jumper, 10 A, such as Dell 450-ABLE (0.6 m) or 450-ABLC (2 m). For a wall outlet instead of a PDU, use a country cord with a C13 end (for example NEMA 5-15P to C13 in North America).
